Blog Review: Zoella

I have been following Zoella for well over a year now, so naturally I went straight to her when my professor asked to review a blog for our class assignment. Zoella is a blogger turned YouTube Vlogger who not only makes a living off her internet escapades, but is also writing books, creating Zoella beauty products and attending live events where her 5 million plus audience has a chance to meet her. Sounds like a mouthful - but this girl must be doing something right.

Looking back at her history there are multiple strategies Zoella uses that relates back to the Socialnomics principles Erik Qualman points out in his book. For starters, since 2009 Zoella has been very present on her blog creating content on a steady basis. She blogs about trending topics including celebrities, make-up products, hair styles, and body positivity. All of her posts are relatively short and simple and creates many bulleted points. The only thing more active than her posts are her comment sections. People seemed to love commenting on her posts and having discussions and she was rather keen of answering them back.

Zoella also collaborates with many other popular bloggers and vloggers which expands her audience even more. I've attached a video of hers below which currently holds over 6 million views. Each one of her videos averages around 1,000,000 views, the most popular ones being those with fellow bloggers.
